Cities can lead the charge at the local level by:
City officials can act as central organizers prompting their school districts, local civic clubs and higher education institutions to include curriculum, assignments and projects with the America 250 theme including essays, photography and artwork with the national topic "What America Means to Me". Cities can then use public buildings, parks and other locations to exhibit work in ogoing displays or special events. Local civic clubs can sponsor oratory contests.
From January 2025 - July 2026, cities should include a request that State, County and Local Fairs include a new/temporary category for exhibits or ribbons for America 250 themes. This could be added to permit paperwork. The city should then assist in communicating the new opportunities via press release and social media.
At the State or County Fair level in 2025 cities can participate with an America 250 themed pavilion that showcases local products, innovation, and technology. This would be an excellent test run for a potential pavillion at the July 4, 2026 national celebration if planned state pavillions come to fruition.
